Lifespice Welcomes Alex Heugel as Research Chef
CHICAGO, IL, August 28, 2025
LifeSpice is excited to welcome Alex Heugel to our R&D team as our newest Research Chef! We’re thrilled to have Alex on the team, where he can bring his fresh perspective and culinary expertise to LifeSpice.
Alex is a Michigan native, who moved to Chicago ten years ago to attend Kendall College of Culinary Arts. Since graduating, he’s built an impressive culinary career, working in renowned kitchens across the city including Spiaggia, Avec, Chef Special, and Café Cancale. He’s also spent time as a private chef and taught as a culinary instructor at The Chopping Block.
Alex’s love for cooking started early, inspired by cooking shows and a deep fascination with the culinary arts. In 2024, he had a full-circle moment when he competed on America’s Test Kitchen (and spoiler alert: won)! On the show, Alex got to develop and refine his own recipes, which sparked his interest in seasonings and ultimately led him to pursue a career in Research & Development.
At LifeSpice, Alex will collaborate closely with our Quality & Regulatory, Marketing, and R&D teams to develop innovative, trend-forward seasoning blends. He’s already expressed appreciation for how welcoming the team has been and is eager to learn and grow in his first R&D role.
Alex’s favorite cuisines are French and Italian, with a special passion for handmade pastas. Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking or camping. He also enjoys hanging out with his cat, Dill!
