Savory Phyllo Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Phyllo Dough
  • 2 sticks Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 lb. Shredded Hash browns
  • 3 Tbsp. Oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • LifeSpice Al Pastor Seasoning, to taste
  • Parsley, for garnish

Method

  1. Turn the oven to 375F.
  2. Saute the onions and ground beef until fully cooked, and season with the the Al Pastor seasoning.
  3. Cook hash browns on the skillet until fully cooked, and season with the Al Pastor seasoning.
  4. Spray the round pie mold with oil and melt the butter. Start layering the buttered phyllo sheet, the hash browns, and the meat. Repeat until the pie pan is full. 
  5. Fold the sides of the phyllo dough toward the center and butter them up.
  6. Butter the sheet of phyllo dough and crinkle it to the desired look, place it on top of the pie, and repeat until the whole pie is covered.
  7. Bake at 375F for 15-17 minutes until golden brown on top.
  8. Chop parsley and sprinkle it over the top to garnish.

Puff Pastry Savory Pies

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Pastry or Pie Dough
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 lb. Ground Pork
  • 1 lb. Hash browns
  • 3 Tbsp. Oil
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 Tbsp. Milk
  • Salt, to taste
  • LifeSpice Hurricane Seasoning, to taste

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
  2. Use the egg and milk to make an egg wash, and save it for later.
  3. Saute onions and ground pork with LifeSpice Hurricane Seasoning until ready, then cook hash browns on the skillet until ready.
  4. Roll out puff pastry dough. Cut desired size rounds and strips for the lattice top.
  5. To assemble the pie, place the hash browns and meat on the dough rounds and layer the lattice dough strips overtop. Brush the dough with the ggg wash, and bake at 400F for approximately 10-13 min.
