CHICAGO, IL, MAY 21, 2024 – LifeSpice is thrilled to announce a new member to our R&D team, Helen Bengtson. Helen joins our team as a Senior Food Scientist, based in our Chicago Headquarters. She brings a wealth of knowledge to LifeSpice, with eight years of experience working as a food scientist, along with an exciting passion for food that aligns perfectly with our commitment to developing trendsetting seasoning blends.

Helen grew up with an interest in food. She started cooking with her family at a young age, and this early interest became the foundation for her education. She received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Illinois. Helen began her career at Kraft Heinz and contributed to product development on the popular Lunchables line and led the development of the Oscar Mayer Natural Meat and Cheese plates. Helen then went on to roles at Newly Weds Foods, where she specialized in creating batters, breadings, and seasonings for a diverse range of products, and John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc., where she played a key role in developing innovative trail mix products. Driven by her enthusiasm for developing creative seasonings and engaging with customers, Helen was drawn to her new position at LifeSpice.

As LifeSpice’s newest Senior Scientist, Helen will work closely with the rest of our R&D team, as well as our Sales, Marketing, and Regulatory teams and play a crucial role in developing unique, crave worthy seasonings for our clients. Because she thrives on the challenge of projects with stringent restrictions, Helen is eager to work with a wider range of protein products and delve into different formulation methods. Helen’s love for food extends beyond her professional life. She loves guacamole, has a special fondness for smoked paprika, and enjoys exploring new Italian and sushi restaurants. Outside the kitchen, Helen enjoys traveling and exploring beaches and ski mountains and takes great joy in caring for her houseplants. We look forward to seeing the positive impact Helen makes on our R&D team here at LifeSpice.
